Mother’s Day is a rare secular observance that is celebrated the world over. It is one day that honors the mother of the family or an individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. Celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May, the US Congress made it an official commemoration on the second Sunday of May in 1908.
