I Take It We're Still Here?
The Armageddon Election was last Tuesday, and the world has not ended?
Like if you want using the keys below; only I can see who you are.
This US election cycle started in 2016, let’s face it. Ever since Hilly Rod conceded to the Orange Man, both left and right have been at each other’s throats for “election interference,” and “threats to democracy” which, to most of us, are just slogans shouted at the top of politician lungs.
This. Needs. To. Stop.
Neither party put forth a candidate worth voting for unless you are voting against the other one. “Leaders” in suits and sweatpants repeat sound bites over and over because you are supposed to believe them. “Journalists” who are beholden to their advertisers and their political masters, not to mention their Hollywood A-lister buddies, sincerely intone vapid propaganda at their audiences because that’s what they do. Actual investigations only go as far as the press releases. The Fourth Estate has become the Fifth Column for the millionaire politicians (how many poor ones are there anymore?).
And taxes go up, and prices go up, and crime runs rampant.
And no one in any “leadership” positions seems to care about anything but the next election…or party…or donation…or interview, whichever comes first. They hold the opinions of, and do the bidding of, their biggest donors, not of their constituents. Our “representatives” of roadkill-shaped districts created by committees of their friends are in continual reelection mode because every two- or four- or six-year cycle is just too short.
And now, our new Grifter-In-Chief will fix everything.
Didn’t fix it all for four years; promised to fix it all this year (or in the administration before Sleepy Joe). Does anyone really think they will? Or can? Or even WANT TO?
If we’re not still here…never mind.
This Redhead: The Dialogues
No, my experimental novel has nothing to do with elections, although one happens in the course of it. This Redhead is all about two people’s lives and your imagination.
Just imagine…a story with no background descriptions, no tells, no “he said,” or “she yelled” cues, or any other stage direction at all. All you need to do is read Blondie and Red’s dialogues (slowly), and make up everything else from what they say. Available from your favorite bookseller or from me if you want an autograph.

And Finally...
On 9 November:
1799: In the Coup of 18 Brumaire (by France’s revolutionary calendar), Napoleon Bonaparte becomes the First Consul of France. While this did not give him absolute power (yet), it gave him more authority than any leader in France since the king’s arrest in 1792.
1989: Demonstrators, construction workers, and guards destroy sections of the Berlin Wall. This truly spontaneous act stunned authorities on both sides of the Iron Curtain, and was preceded by Czechoslovakia’s removal of their barbed-wire frontier with Austria weeks before, which allowed thousands to cross out of East Germany and other Eastern European states.
And today is WORLD FREEDOM DAY, which started in 1989 with that demonstration of contempt for the authorities who built that wall. Let’s see how “free” we are in another four years…
There's one good thing from this election. I don't have to listen to any crap about how the electoral college is illegitimate. At least, not for another four years.
